Tahni is the author of Josiah’s Fire, a faith story involving her autistic son.   Jana Swenson & Jim Weckwerth, consultants from Kairos & Associates working with Chain of Lakes in our capital fundraising drive, will speak to the congregation.

Please stay after worship for a time of fellowship in the Community Life Center.

Children, Tween and Teen News
Children are welcome to attend Sunday Circles with Bethany Bourgoin and Heather Butterfield after “Time for Children”. Sunday Circles is the Educational ministry offered by Chain of Lakes. Younger children and babies will be welcomed by Sherri Varsho, Chain of Lakes Childcare Coordinator.     
                                       
HOPE 4 Youth Annual Spaghetti Dinner HOPE 4 Youth Annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held March 3, 2019 at the Coon Rapids VFW, 1919 Coon Rapids Boulevard.  The dinner will be served from 3 to 6pm and you are encouraged to join other Chain of Lakes friends at 4:30pm.  Tickets can be purchased online at hope4youthmn.org/sdinner/  for $10 or at the door for $15, children under age ten are $5.   
 
 Mission Trip informational meetingAre you interested going on an adult mission trip in August to North Carolina?  The trip will help those who suffered in Hurricane Florence. Are you interested in learning more about this trip?  An informational meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 7 at 6:30pm.
 
Small Groups                                                                Sundays starting February 24 at 9am, Pastor Paul will lead a small group called, “Demystifying Revelation”,  a four-week study on the book of Revelation led by Pastor Paul. No knowledge of the Bible or the book of Revelation is required!
 
Thursdays, at 6:45pm through February 1, Amy Moore is leading a book study on Braving the Wilderness by Brene’ Brown. Brown is a research professor focusing on courage, vulnerability, shame and empathy and how these affect a person’s day-to-day behavior.
 

Lent Small Groups on Luke The small group team invites everyone to participate in small groups during Lent this year. The small groups will be a video series created by Pastor Paul called, “Conversations with my daughter. Life-long lessons from Luke.” Pastor Paul has developed six, 15 minutes videos of a conversation he had with his daughter, Hannah, about a theme in Luke. Groups will be offered on Tuesday  and Wednesday evenings, starting March 12 & 13. On Wednesday evenings people will gather at 6:30pm for a meal. At 7 the video will be shared. At 7:15 everyone can participate in a small group. The groups will be done by 8:15. Child care will be available. Sign up on the Communication card for a small group. To sign up for small groups, contact the Chain of Lakes office, 763.208.8049, or talk to the leaders during Fellowship after worship.  Invite friends & neighbors!

Upcoming Worship Celebrations  
February 24    Pastor Paul will share a sermon on the story of the Transfiguration.  The title of his sermon is “Going up and down the mountain.” A card shower for the Socolova family will be held after worship. Both Ivan and Luba Socolova are now citizens of the United States!
March 3        Camp Sunday! Sing camp songs and hear stories about summer camp. Information about camp at Presbyterian Clearwater Forest will be shared.
 
Ash Wednesday  Start Lent by worshiping on Ash Wednesday, which is Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30 pm.  Child care is available
                                                                                      
Capital fundraising drive update                           

Chain of Lakes is participating in the listening phrase of the Capital fundraising drive. The purpose of this phase is for Kairos and Associates to get a sense of what might happen when Chain of Lakes does a capital  fundraising drive. As part of this phase every person 16 & over who has come to worship four or more times is asked to take a survey called the Missional Assessment Profile. If you haven’t take the survey, consider taking it today. The deadline to take the survey is Monday, February 25.

 Get-To-Know-You                                                         The Connection Team and Pastor Paul are sharing a Get-To-Know-You gathering after worship at Chain of Lakes on Sunday, February 24. This is intended for people who would like to learn more about Chain of Lakes Church. Lunch will be served.                           
 
Save the Date!                                                                 The Local Impact Team of Chain of Lakes is sponsoring a forum on Sunday, March 26 at 6:30pm called “Root Causes of Homelessness.” Four outstanding speakers will address the question of why people become homeless. The speakers are Robin Burge-Ross, Social Worker at Anoka Regional High School, Lisa Jacobson, Executive Director at HOPE 4 Youth, Julie Jeppson, Executive Director at Stepping Stone, and Richard Bahr, author of Those People.                                                              
Per Capita                                                                        Every disciple at Chain of Lakes is asked to pay their Per Capita in 2019. Per Capita is the fee that helps support the work of the wider governing bodies of the Presbyterian Church. In 2019 Per Capita is $35.70. To pay Per Capita, write a check to Chain of Lakes Church and note the check is for Per Capita. The goal is that all 103 disciples or members will pay their Per Capita in 2019.
