Enjoy photography, but want to learn more? Eager to elevate your pics
from “snapshots” to “art”? This small group is intended to help everyone
learn new techniques, styles and design principles. We’ll discuss what
you can achieve with a a fancy DSLR, and even a cell phone. Each
week, we’ll focus on a different aspect of photography: from camera
settings to composition, lighting basics to editing, content to visual storytelling.
At each session’s end, we’ll send you out with a suggested
project to complete and then show off at the next session.
We hope you’ll join us!

Online Book Group with Oak Grove Presbyterian
Pastor Mary Koon and Pastor Paul Moore
When: The month of July
Where: Anywhere!

Participate in a book club from the comfort of your home, the lake
or any other place you like. During the month of July those
from Chain of Lakes and Oak Grove will participate in an
online book group. The group will read
Everything Happens for a Reason and other Lies I’ve Loved by Kate Bowler,
a memoir of Kate Bowler’s encounter with stage 4 colon cancer.
Bowler is a graduate of Macalester College and a professor of
Christian History at Duke Divinity School.

The book tells the story of Bowler’s struggle to understand the personal,
spiritual dimensions of the belief that tragedies are tests of character or
somehow happen for a divine reason. Participants will be encouraged to read
about two chapters a week. A closed Facebook group will be set up for private,
online conversation. Every Sunday one or two questions will be shared
on the Facebook page. All participants will be asked to respond to the
questions and participate in the online conversation. A gathering of all
participants will take place at a time to be determined.
